"The Principal asked me to repeat what was so funny to disrupt the class," Davis recalls in a recent interview, "but with his paddle cocked; I had trouble selling the bit." Sid squeaked through Ohio University's stringent admission requirements of a transcript, a check and a pulse. Sid's first job as a small radio station copywriter/ad salesman frustrated him. He wanted to entertain people; so he quit. When Sid informed his young wife of his intentions and unemployment; she informed him of her pregnancy. Providing for a family put his dream of performing comedy on the back burner….for 25 years. During an insurance sales job that he despised and an airline career that he loved, Sid’s family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Sid yearned to flex his creative skills. During his breaks at the Charlotte airport, Sid penned a funny story about an airline baggage handler who fights back on an identity theft. The transcript circulated through the terminal and was not only enjoyed…investors came forward…resulting in the comedy novel; Space Available. Sid joined Toastmasters and quickly won two North Carolina humorous speaking contests. He began performing and hosting shows in the Charlotte area and honed-in on his comic point of view. Soon, several A-list comics took Sid on the road to open for in A-rooms from coast to coast. The mentors and stage time paid off. He was chosen to be the first comic to grace the stage at the grand opening of the new Charlotte Downtown Comedy Zone. Sid now headlines across the country and has audiences of all ages rolling with his stories based on the hilarity in the cracks and crevices of our everyday grind.
